Private Yoga Instruction
Are you a brand-new beginner to yoga? Challenged by injury, disability, or a chronic condition that makes public classes intimidating? A long-time practitioner seeking to deepen your understanding of the art and science of yoga? Private yoga sessions are the perfect opportunity to build confidence, move at your pace, receive plenty of hands-on adjustments and alignment cues, ask tons of questions, and receive the myriad benefits of this creative and intelligent practice. Private sessions can also be an education in anatomy/physiology, personal postural analysis, meditation, and/or pranayama (breath techniques) for students interested in exploring the broader scope that the yoga tradition has to offer. I also love to mentor new and aspiring yoga teachers. I do not teach one form of yoga, but draw on the wisdom of Iyengar, Anusara, and alignment-based Vinyasa. My ongoing bodywork studies also create a broader foundation for the practice. Lately I have been applying a myofascial framework as a way of fine-tuning the alignment of asana (posture) and recognizing the integration of the body's structure through the fascial network. Past experience assisting my friend and teacher Crystal Hinton in her Adaptive Yoga classes (customized particularly for TBI and spinal cord injuries) has given me more tools for teaching one-on-one therapeutic yoga and the belief that this practice can be adapted to serve any body. Call me to discuss your interest in private yoga sessions. Note: yoga sessions are only available when booking with Tiffany Shocklee.
